Reverse Transfer

Placeholder

Reverse transfer applies credits earned at four-year institution back to a student's prior two-year institution in order to receive an associate’s degree or certificate (least common). If you transferred from a two year to a four-year institution before earning your associates and have now completed enough additional credits to earn your associate's degree, contact your prior two-year institution advising center to request consideration for reverse transfer if you wish to be awarded an associate's degree.

Benefits of Reverse Transfer:

  • Educational goals:
    • Opportunity to earn a credential while working to earn another.
    • Students can apply their credits to a bachelor’s degree.
    • An associates degree provides students an opportunity to have proof of coursework.
    • Opportunity to show potential employers that you have a degree or certification while working to earn your bachelor’s degree, increasing entry-level job marketability.
  • Financial goals:
    • Saves money in the long run.
    • Higher lifetime earnings potential.

Reverse Transfer Requirements

  • Must have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours.
  • Must not have previously received an associate's degree or a bachelor’s degree.
