Dr. Gregory D. Little joins CHE as Acting President and Executive Director

The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Gregory D. Little as Acting President and Executive Director, effective March 4.

Little brings a wealth of experience in both K-12 and postsecondary higher education administration, as well as a proven track record of leadership, to the agency.

Little“The Commission looks forward to working with Dr. Little in his role as acting president and executive director, and we sincerely value his leadership during this critical transition period,” said CHE Chair Wes Hayes. “We have strong confidence in Dr. Little’s ability to guide the agency and maintain the CHE’s commitment to accessible, affordable, and high-quality postsecondary education in South Carolina."

Little is a veteran educator with 27 years of experience. He earned his undergraduate degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, followed by a master’s degree and doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served as superintendent for Mount Airy City Schools in North Carolina, and Lexington County School District One in Lexington, South Carolina. In 2022, he became Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Innovation for the South Carolina Technical College System. 

"I am honored to join the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education as acting president and executive director, and I am eager to lead this agency in the coming months,” Little said.  "Through cooperation and collaboration with our institutions, policymakers, and stakeholders, our agency will strive to create a positive impact on higher education that benefits both our students and our state."
