Welcome to College and Career Decision Day! As a student participant, you are the most important part of this event! Please use this guide to make the most of your experience! 

Schedule

9:00 AM: Buses drop off at Boyd Plaza, students stage in appropriate zones

10:00 - 10:30 AM: Students March down Main Street to the SC State House

10:40 - 11:15 AM: Senior Class Recognition

10:30 - 10:40 AM: Welcome and Presentation of Colors

11:15 - 11:30 AM: College Reps Rally

11:30 - 11:40 AM: Special Recognitions

11:40 - 12:30 PM: College and Industry Reps Fair

12:15 - 12:30 PM: Food Trucks/ Lunch on Your Own

12:30 PM: High Schools Departure

General Guidance / What to Expect
  • Portable restrooms will be available at the student drop off/staging area at Boyd Plaza, and near the State House on Sumter Street.
  • Meals are not provided - students should bring money if they plan to eat from the food trucks at the rally.
  • Dress comfortably for the temperature and wear comfortable shoes for the walk (approximately 1/2 mile).
Volunteer and Bus Driver Information (Drop off, parking, pick up)

Student Drop Off:

Arriving BEFORE 10:00 AM: Drop students off at 1515 Main St, Columbia, SC 29201 (Boyd Plaza)

Arriving AFTER 10:00 AM: Drop students off at Assembly St. side of SC Statehouse (West Grounds). For safety, please DO NOT drop students off directly in front of the Statehouse.

Schools must check in at the registration table at Boyd Plaza and will be directed by CHE volunteers to their respective staging zones (see below)

Buses will park at 1200 Rosewood Dr, Gate #11 Columbia, SC 29201 (South Carolina Fairgrounds)

Student Pick Up:

Pick students up at Assembly St. side of SC Statehouse (West Grounds). Parking meters along the side of Assembly St. have been reserved for pick-up, buses must use the parking spaces. Buses CANNOT wait in the traffic lane to pull into the parking spaces. If the spaces are full, buses should circle around the block. 3-4 buses can fit in the reserved parking lane at one time.
