Aiken Technical College

Enrollment for Veterans

In partnership with Forces United, the University of South Carolina Aiken and Aiken Technical College seek to establish a collaborative relationship with Aiken County businesses to provide employment opportunities for military veterans while they earn a degree. The Veterans to Careers Program seeks to match the veteran’s military service, discipline and skills of junior enlisted and non commissioned officers to temporary positions in partnering businesses in Aiken County

Central Carolina Technical College

  • Central Carolina awards credit for courses taken at military services schools.
  • Official Joint Services Transcript (JST) displaying military course completions must be requested by the student to be sent directly to Student Records by the issuing agency.
  • JST must be on file in the student’s academic record before an evaluation is made.
  • After the student has been admitted to the college, course credit will be awarded according to the American Council on Education. Credits must correlate with a program of study.

Florence Darlington Technical College

FDTC Veterans Affairs Military Service Credit 

  • Awards credit for select formal military coursework and training. Under agreement with the Service Members Opportunity Colleges (SOC), the college may grant credit for military education and experience that has been evaluated and recommended as suitable for postsecondary education credit by the American Council on Education.
  • Students must request official military transcripts (JST) from the appropriate military service.
  • Academic department heads assist with the review of establishing course credit equivalencies by referring to the ACE Guide. The college awards credit only for coursework in the student’s current or proposed major.
  • Awards credit only for military education and experience that relate directly to courses taught by the college.

Greenville Technical College


PLA Options| Greenville Tech

  • Courses and experience completed in the military as recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) may qualify for exemption credit.
  • The PLA evaluator will review the Joint Service Transcripts or the Community College of the Air Force transcripts to determine eligibility.
  • Student must request official transcripts be sent to Student Records. The grade of EM will appear on the college transcript.

Midlands Technical College

Midlands Technical College is approved for veterans’ educational assistance and maintains a full time VA Office to assist veterans already enrolled and those seeking admission. All students eligible for veteran educational benefits should visit the VA office on Airport or Beltline Campus upon registration each term
** Prior Learning Assessments Credits for Military training that are accepted by MTC are MGT 250 (3 credit hours Supervision) and AHS 106 (1 credit CPR) Fort Jackson Campus. There may be others, but the Department Chairs must review for course credit equivalencies.

Spartanburg Community College

Veterans Assistance: Spartanburg Community College (sccsc.edu)

SCC is approved by the State Approving Agency for training service persons, veterans, dependents, and National Guard/Reservists. SCC supports and encourages veteran involvement with the STAR program and Student Veterans Association (SVA), and scholarships including The Honorable Rufus H. Foster, Jr. Scholarship (for Cherokee County residents) and more. Eligible veterans can receive assistance by applying for education benefits through SCC's Veteran Affairs Office.

Trident Technical College

  • Students receiving VA benefits must submit their military and/or college transcripts to the TTC Admissions office no later than the end of the second semester of enrollment at TTC.
  • TTC’s VA office will process enrollment certifications for only two semesters pending prior credit evaluations
