GetConnectedSC broadband internet initiative: survey and live event information

GetConnectedSC, a high-speed internet access and adoption campaign to transform how South Carolina's citizens engage with the online world, is conducting a survey to capture the barriers to internet adoption of unserved, underserved and underrepresented communities statewide. Information gathered will shape a five-year broadband plan for the state.

The CHE strongly supports increased broadband coverage across the state to increase educational and workforce development opportunities.

GetConnected SC is designed to identify the areas of greatest need in our state, invest in broadband infrastructure to those areas and provide support services to make that transformation possible for every home, business and community organization in South Carolina, according to GetConnectedSC.The initiative is part of a nationwide effort to improve broadband access.

Upcoming live event:

GetConnected SC is hosting live events at 26 cities and towns in priority areas across the state. The events are being hosted so that GetConnected SC can learn firsthand from audiences how and where improved internet service can impact lives.  The events will also help inform audiences about the ways using the internet can improve lives- from education and healthcare to running a business.

Williamsburg Technical College will host the next live event Thursday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m.

The event will be held in at 601 MLK Jr. Ave, Kingstree, SC in Room 444. Refreshments will be served.
